HCi Viocare to unveil Smart Diabetic Insole at ATTD Conference

Bioengineering experts HCi Viocare, today announced that they will be unveiling their smart diabetic insole at the Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) conference in Paris on the 18th and 19th of February.

This low-cost, ground-breaking device can wirelessly relay foot pressure and shear information to a smartphone in real time. It is intended to help people with diabetes monitor their condition and help them prevent diabetic foot ulcers, thereby reducing the number of related amputations.

Up to 70 percent of diabetic patients will have nerve damage in their feet(1), and up to 25 percent will develop a diabetic foot ulcer(2), leading to many thousands of preventable amputations each year. Worldwide, every 20 seconds a foot is amputated due to diabetes(3).

Dr Christos Kapatos, Chief Technology Officer, and Heleen Kist, Chief Operating Officer, will be engaging with companies in the diabetes monitoring market at the ATTD Conference to find a suitable partner for the commercialisation of the newly developed smart insole.

Interested parties wishing to meet the HCi Viocare team at the ATTD conference can contact Ms. Kist on h.kist@viocare.eu.
